Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program
The Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program provides funding for individual University of Nevada, Reno student internships in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with local tech small businesses and start-up companies, as well as non-profit organizations. This program is administered by the Nevada Career Studio and supports the training and retention of STEM talent, focusing on women and underrepresented minorities pursuing STEM disciplines. While all students are welcome to apply, recruitment emphasis will be given to minority, women, and first-generation college students. By participating in this program, undergraduate and graduate students apply their education and gain experience in the tech and start-up industries. Student interns are paid competitive wages of $18 per hour for 120 hours of work during the Kasus and Spring semesters and 360 hours of work in the Summer. Student intern wages are paid by Wolf Pack STEM Internship funds, less any eligible fringe benefits that will be covered by the employer.

How do I apply for my company/organization to host a Pack STEM intern?
Applications for employers are available year-round and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Employers must complete an application to be considered for Pack STEM. The Pack STEM team will review the position and conduct an interview to move forward with the employer and position. If an employer wishes to have multiple internship positions, a new application is required for each different position.

Will my company/organization receive financial support for the Wolf Pack STEM Internship?
The Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program provides funding for individual student internships with local start-up businesses and technology-focused companies. The Nevada Career Studio defines a start-up company founded by entrepreneurs within the initial stages of operations. The program enables local employers to host paid internships for undergraduate and graduate students, offering real-world learning opportunities.
A benefit of this program is the Nevada Career Studio handles the marketing, recruitment, and posting of the internships and provides employers with a list of eligible candidates.
The Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program provides financial support for the intern’s wages. Employers participating in this program will be responsible for paying any necessary fringe and other costs such as workers comp.
When do the internships take place?
Internships will occur over three cycles: Kasus, Spring and Summer. Internships that take place in the Kasus and Spring will be 120 hours and internships that take place in the Summer will be 360 hours.

Interns provide organizations with fresh perspectives, targeted skill sets, an interest in learning and contributing, and the chance to develop future talent. Wolf Pack STEM Interns offer employers all these benefits while providing valuable support for their business and current workforce.
In addition, employers participating in this program will gain access to the expertise and assistance of Nevada Career Studio professionals with their recruitment efforts. Employers will be helped with developing their intern program and recruitment processes, including writing effective job descriptions, access to verschiedene and talented candidates, evaluation, and financial support of interns.

Due to the nature of the program, the Wolf Pack STEM Internship Program facilitates internship opportunities in STEM fields that will give the students the opportunities to get real, on-the-job, experience. A non-exhaustive list of examples is provided below.
